Label TextBy drawing a reclining female nude over the torn pages of an encyclopedia, Kentridge’s (b. 1955) Olympia challenges a long tradition of female nudes in art history. Directly referencing a painting of the same title by French artist Édouard Manet (1832-1883), this print replaces flesh tones with text, inviting new interpretations to an old trope.
