Label TextPeter Bynum’s experiments with paint, light and transparency are a provocative departure from the history of painting. Biomorphic forms float on multiple layers of glass as light infuses the paint from both sides, allowing us to visually swim through layers of ethereal imagery.
In painting “unknown species” that we nevertheless recognize as the forms and rhythms of the living universe – as our own nature -- Bynum celebrates the ecstatic energy of the life-force in action while referencing the ongoing threat to planetary ecosystems.
This experimental, two-sided sculptural painting brings us into an intimate relationship with the biological structure of our oneness, and invites a conversation about the interconnectedness of all life and the limits of human knowledge.
