Label TextThis project contrasts China's rapid economic development and its human rights abuses within the larger context of global consumption and environmental degradation. The mixture of Beanie Babies, Chinese Scholar's Rock and Chinese traditional auspicious motifs are intended to explore how cultural and social issues are impacted by this rapid change. Fukazawa uses these objects in a whimsical way to comment upon growing commercialization, consumerism, and globalization occurring in all societies.Status
