Label TextWe don't see ourselves reflected in contemporary culture accurately, lovingly, or in proper detail. It definitely is a goal of mine to create thoughtful content that makes people think of preconceived notions of Native America, that challenges those perceptions, that creates multiple narratives, that all comes from a place of empowerment and celebration - a celebration of resistance. We constructed a life-sized doll box as a place to put all the cultural accessories... Those doll boxes come with context clues for how this person lives this life... all of those cultural items are precolonial items. Through all odds, genocide, colonization, and resistance, she still carries the knowledge to make those things. - Cara Romero
