Label TextSuda House (born 1951) is a photographer and educator based in San Diego, CA. Juno Lucia is part of House's Aqueous Myths series (1980s), which uses water and swimming to reflect on the status of women. House positions Goddesses and mortal women in a struggle to achieve excellence in their careers and personal lives, "swimming in the torrent waters of trying to have it all." An avid swimmer, the water became both a symbol of struggle and a place of solace for House as she navigated being the first woman hired to teach photography in San Diego County. More recently, House has returned to this series to think about climate change and the negative impact humans have had on the ocean - a place of healing now unable to heal itself.Status
