Label TextZapatito Blanco | Zapatito Azul critically engages with the idea of Manifest Destiny and the history of migration in the Unites States and Mexico. The title of the work refers to a Mexican children’s game that determines who is “it” in the game (similar to "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe"). The diptych, made of two train cases, maps the train routes of La Bestia Railways in Mexico (left) and the Transcontinental Railway in the U.S. (right), which became central migration corridors. In this work, the map of the Transcontinental Railroad has been turned to mirror that of the La Bestia Railway, drawing a parallel between the two. Status
