Label TextThe Kazan Mother of God, also known as Our Lady of Kazan, represents the Virgin Mary as the protector of Russia. According to legend, the icon was brought from Constantinople during the 13th century, was lost for over a century, and was rediscovered in the 16th century by a young girl, to whom the Virgin appeared in a dream.
