Dennis Hollingsworth

Dennis Hollingsworth was born in Madrid, Spain, currently living and working in Los Angeles, California. In 1985 Hollingsworth received his B.A. in architecture from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and his M.F.A. from Claremont Graduate School, Claremont. Hollingsworth has refined his technique to use thick dots of paint, often on top of a wet surface. The thick and colorful use of paint is reminiscent of Pop-art in terms of composition, pattern and texture. In order to create his work Hollingsworth uses spatulas, palette knives and thinned brushes to obtain the thick abstract combination of paint on the canvas. In addition to the standard paintings created by Hollingsworth is a series of lithographs, capturing his expressive style on a flat surface. Over all Hollingsworth’s work is expressive, colorful, and abstract.
