Jason W McKechnie
Jason McKechnie ( b. 1969 in Calgary, Alberta ) lives and works in Montréal.
He began exhibiting his work in 1993 while in graduate school and was included in Out West and Back East : new work from Los Angeles and New York in early 1994 at the Santa Monica Museum of Art.
He has exhibited extensively in the Los Angeles area with solo shows at FoodHouse and ACME, and group exhibitions at the Jan Baum Gallery, L.A.C.E / Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Woodbury University Gallery, The Armory Center for the Arts Pasadena, The Laguna Art Museum, The Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum Project Space, and others. He has had solo exhibitions at the American University of Paris and The Franklin Artworks, Minneapolis and his work was exhibited in group shows at Feature Inc. New York, and Christie’s Auction House Beverly Hills.
McKechnie’s work is in the permanent collections of the Berkeley Art Museum, The Laguna Museum of Art, The Orange County Museum of Art, The Portland Museum (Portland, Oregon), The Guggenheim Gallery of Chapman University, The American University of Paris, and many private collections in America, Canada, and Europe.
He studied at École Parsons à Paris (Parsons School of Design) Paris, France; BFA at Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design, Los Angeles, California; and MFA at Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles, California.
His work has been reviewed in The Los Angeles Times,Flash Art International, Art Issues, Art News, and other publications.
