Label TextDeceptively minimal, Baumann’s (b. 1948) composition was built with extensive layers of colors, challenging the perception of black and white. The longer the eye lingers, an array of colors emerge, vibrate, and disappear.

Art critic Frances Colpitt once said of Baumann’s work, “In her paintings, color is radiant, monochromatic fields breathe, and crisp edges quiver almost imperceptibly.”
